This just in. Paranoid Production called and asked If i’d stay one more night and spin at the famed College Nights at the Reserve. Just about a year ago we came together to host the premiere College Nights in the area. You may recall capacity nights where fire marshalls had to shut the party down temporarily till a few people left and we made code. We’re doing it all over. Bigger and better than before. Starting September 5th, I’m back behind the decks.

The Atlanta Stargazing Tour @ Glenn Hotel // Photo Reel by Dustin Chambers
Friday night found me sky high on top of the Glenn Hotel for SMKA’s/The Chem Lab’s Stargazing Tour. We had a brief rain delay that pushed the start time back an hour or so but that did not prevent the masses from coming through. Shortly after doors opened a line extended through the first floor lounge of people waiting to jump on the elevator to get to the party. If security prevented you from making your way up to enjoy the show make sure you catch the final two stops on the tour. SMKA is a leading force in bringing top quality events and music. I’m still getting hip to the Atlanta scene and the Stargazing tour put me on to some of the cities A-List talent. Don’t miss the remaining dates.

SMKA x The Chemlab Pres. The Stargazing Tour
I loved every moment of the MTV TJ search but I’m amped up to get behind the turntables again. I have a few events lined up this week including the The Stargazing Tour, “Music in the Sky” edition, which I’m most excited for. I’ll be mixing all night on top of the Glenn Hotel in between performances from Aleon Craft, Jay West, Spree Wilson, Graham Knox, and Asia Bryant. Be there!

MTV TJ Live Final
I’m back in Atlanta still trying to digest everything that took place this last month. When I received a vague email asking for my participation in a new “opportunity” I had no clue what I was signing up for. Almost a month later I can say this was the most intense job interview I’ve had. The minute I walked into the MTV headquarters I could feel the energy surrounding this new venture. The search wrapped up with a live finale in my hometown of New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Perfect backdrop for my win right? Wrong… I came in as the 2nd runner up. The incredible fashionista Gabi Greggs was voted in as the first ever MTV TJ. Between Twitter challenges, celebrity interviews, concerts, photo shoots, studios and meeting new friends it was a dope experience I’ll never forget. I’ve gotten so many tweets about the kicks I rocked during the MTV TJ finale. My entire fit was selected by celebrity stylist, Felipe G and sponsored by Philly based, UBIQ. The shoes were UBIQ’s own, Grace Mid’s. Hit up their site and check out their dope selection.

Tweetup Meetup ft Jesse Boykins III x Mickey Factz
UPDATE: Here’s the edited clip that was shown during the live MTV TJ finale. Unfortunately in a minute and half clip they couldn’t show everything including Jesse’s & Melo-X song or the non profit group Ubuntu but the event was a success. The best 30 minute party I’ve been to!
MTV’s Search for the First TJ is in it’s finale week. I’ve been selected as a TOP 5 candidate and Challenge # 2 involves hosting a Tweetup. MTV gave me parameters to work with within.
- The event can only be 30 minutes between 6-6:30pm
- I could not promote it until 10am the morning of
- I’m only allotted $200 to use for any party planning needs
- Every guest must wear or bring an item.
- MTV Camera’s will be capturing the tweetup to air on the MTV Search for the First TJ Finale on Sunday, August 8th @10pm
All guest required to put an X on your hand for entry. Find a pen, sharpie, krylon can, whatever and put an X on your hand to show support for your favorite MTV TJ candidate.
Special Guest Performers, Jive Recording artist Mickey Factz and Jesse Boykins III will hitting the stage.

MTV TJ - TOP 5!!!
WOW. I am speechless. I’m totally humbled that the MTV staff selected me to be a part of the Top 5 finalist for the MTV TJ Search. I don’t think any of the candidates realized what we were getting into when we first got the vague email requesting our participation in the search. It’s turned out to be a mini online reality show. Friendships made, laughs shared, late night chats, and of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a few haters. There was a pool of great talent, all of them worthy to be picked. I’m so amped up to head into the next phase of challenges.
Thanks to all of you that supported me throughout this first stage. Family, friends and fans from all over the country extended a hand to help and it paid off. That was just the beginning. Now we’ll need to step it into high gear. I will be getting full details of what’s to come in the next couple of weeks and I’ll need everyone’s participation. Many of you are asking what you can do now.

If your phone doesn’t support apps log into twitter online and visit http://twitter.com/devices. There you will able to send Twitter updates to your cell phone via text message.

MTV’s decision was not and will not solely be based on the Tweet Level score but having a higher ranking sure does help.
Lastly, I’ll need everyone to help build as much buzz and anticipation as possible surrounding the August 8th Live Finale on MTV. I will be flown out to New York City, Sunday, August 1st and report directly to MTV’s Times Square Headquarters. During that entire week I will be put through another round of Twitter based challenges. During my call with the MTV staff this afternoon they forewarned me that I will not be getting any sleep during my time there. If you know me, that will be no problem at all. From the moment I land, cameras will be following my every move to document how well I carry out the given task. The week will consumate with a live on air special on Sunday. MTV will reveal footage from every challenge and after each one you, the fans will vote your favorite TJ through to the next stage. Tell as many people as you can to tune in the evening of August 8th and have their phone’s nearby to vote immediately after each challenge. I do not have the exact time of the airing but once I do you’ll be the first to know.
There you have it. Your challenge has been issued. As I’m preparing for the next round of challenges you will be accomplishing yours as well. We’re in this together.
