I’ve seen the female DJ’s that get work strictly off of sex appeal but have come across more times than usual the ones that can hold down the decks with the best of em. It’s not a secret the battle they go through for equality. This should be interesting.

New York Minute #4 - Big Pun Mural
I picked up a Big Pun documentary from a nearby Blockbuster thats going out of business. I knew a lot about the emcee already but had no clue we lived on the same street. They filmed many shots on Commonwealth Ave. in the South Bronx which is where I spent many years before moving out to Florida. As time goes on I feel the legacy of Pun continues to get lost with the younger generations. If you aren’t familiar with him he was the first latino rapper to go platinum. His life was cut short at 28 years old, two years after his Grammy nominated debut “Capital Punishment” was released. MediaGasface and Arte.tv launched their mini-series this month, New York Minute. Episode 4 interviewed How and Nosm, two artist part of the legendary graffiti crew known as Tats Cru. They talked about painting Pun’s mural the day he died and how they upkeep it every year with a new piece. I walked by the mural tons of times as a kid. It’s great to see his memorial still recognized, ten years later through projects like this. Make sure to check out the incredible series highlighting Hip Hop moments throughout all the New York Boroughs.

Fair Game
Fair Game is based on the life of former Diplomat Joe Wilson and his wife, former CIA operative Valerie Wilson. The film, starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn, runs through the systematic efforts by the U.S. Government to manufacture a lie as means into a war and singlehandedly destroy a family that stood up for the truth. It hits select theaters November 5th. Just in time for all of the election buzz, Fair Game shows what happens when people abuse their position of power. Not one to miss.
