It seems the DJ world has quickly become over-saturated with bass thumping electro, dutch house, b-more, dubstep and most recently moombahton mixes. This one is for those days you need a lighter course to accompany a somber, reflective or mediative mood. There’s never an appropriate place to play these songs at live gigs so I felt the urge to piece this together. I may be the only one who vibes to this. Maybe not. This is the first of the Damage Control mix series. Enjoy.

Fresh off of the success of SwaggerNewYork.com’s Paris vs New York campaign, the progressive fashion and music site launched NYC vs ATL. A ‘battle’ of the best from each region in art, music, fashion, digital media and beyond. They pitted me against the stunning Jinna from greaseandglamour.com/.

If you’re familiar with SwaggerNewYork they have a standard of showcasing all things hot and new before everyone else does. Keeping in line with Swagger’s ability to trend forecast I put together a mix of the best up and coming artist, bands and producers from both my birthplace of New York City and my current hometown Atlanta. I was playing around with the acappella for Nas and Damian Marley’s “As we Enter” and after a few failed attempts with tracks that couldn’t match their energy I threw Barry White’s “You Gotta Case” under it.
