The Lunch Break just released “Jeremy Piven”. Paying homage to everyone’s favorite talent rep, the track flares with guitar riffs and tribal drums. Could totally see the G.O.O.D music roster jumping on this.

The Atlanta based trio just dropped their EP. I got to hear these tracks at their listening party last week and my favorite was Shoot out the Sun. Has a Rage against the Machine meets hipster rap feel to it. Download the entire EP below.

Thanks to all the blog sites that’s featured The Lunch Break during our MTV TJ Challenge # 3 period.

As part of the MTV TJ 3rd Challenge to break a local band, I met up with The Lunch Break at UNI Studios during their rehearsal/recording session. Here is Mike Cease, JDG and Jayell letting us know what Lunch Break is all about as well as dishing some dirt on each other.
For the MTV TJ Search Challenge 3 I was told to “break” a local band. Here is Atlanta’s own, The Lunch Break. A put together a quick mix of 3 tracks from their upcoming, debut album, “Love, Drink, Hate Line”, including the lead single, “Heart of Metal”

Challenge 3 | Good Vibrations | ZYNC from American Express(SM)
Challenge Open for 3 days ‐ from 12:00am (EST) July 12 2010 to 11:59pm (EST) July 14, 2010.
Overview:
MTV is music at its core. We want our new TJ to exhibit a real passion for music, and to take joy in discovering and breaking the ‘next big thing’…even if they live right next door. This challenge will test the TJ candidate’s ability to know talent when they see it and convince an undecided audience.
Social Challenge: Expose and break a local band of your choice using any media channels available to you. Examples include blogs, the web, newspapers, magazines, video, television, radio, and more. At the end of the challenge, ZYNC from American Express will spotlight your band and their music at Miami Fashion Week!

Being fresh to the Atlanta music scene Challenge 3 posed as a serious challenge for me. After a few tweet blast asking for suggestions and some researching of my own I came across, “The Lunch Break”. A three member band that formed in 2007. Their sound can best be described as electro-hip pop. Influenced by their Southern, East and West coast roots, Michael “Mike Cease” Canzius, Corderius “Jayell” Climpson, and Jarrett “JDG” Grimes deliver a dynamic, well rounded sound in their upcoming debut album, “Love, Drink, Hate Line”.
At first listen I heard resemblance’s to Mike Posner, Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson but after digging deeper I realized The Lunch Break are more than just your average new era hipster musicians. Though they look forward to record sales and sold out shows more importantly they take pride in giving back to their community. They are partnering with The Lisa Lopes Foundation (TLC) for a slew of benefit shows in the following months promoting the importance of education.
Little may be known of the Atlanta based group but after spending years developing their sound, performance, stage presence and delivery this sleeping giant is waking up and very hungry. The bell has rung and its Lunch Break’s time.
